  1. Hello folks. I have 2 HDDs
    1. Quantum 30GB 5400
    2. Maxtor 120GB 7200

I spend lot of time working with AFX and premiere and I need advice for next.

Is it better to have Quantum formated on NTFS with instalation of Windows 2000 and other programs in HDD rack and second HDD maztor 120GB just formated as one partition for NTSF for captureing, or

To have Quantum 30GB with instalation of Win 2000 and programs fixed and Maxtor 120GB with NTSF in HDD rack for direct capture on it.

I need best solution for capture via FW in Premiere and analgo capture using my Vivo card.

    Thanks for advice

The OS is on the 30GB, correct?

Set both to capture to the 120GB, also keep the 120 defragmented.

One other suggestion, if you are serious about digital video, upgrade to WinXP. You will like the improvements and you will find your captures/editing will be better as well.

I would have the OS and programs on the 30G drive and keep the 120G strickly for capture and maybe for backing up some files. Use one partition on each drive. As far as HDD rack, are you saying to put one of your drives on a removable rack? If so that's fine, just make sure it has sufficient ventalation for the faster drives. If you are using the 7200 drive in a rack, it should have a fan.
