  1. I have succesfully transferred VHS tapes through a VCR connected to my panasonic mini-dv camera analog in and then through firewire to my Mac.

My question is, I now have a VCR with S-Video out. I can connect the S-Video from my VCR to my Panasonic.

The question is - do i still need to connect the audio as well? If I have a three (red, white, yellow) to one connector that I used in the past - can I plug in just the red and white to the VCR? Or would it be better quality to buy a white and red connector without having the video connection?

As you can tell from my verbage, I'm still trying to get the lingo down so forgive my ignorance.

I've heard ignorance is bliss, so be happy. Anyway, please take my advice with a grain of salt, as I am a PC user. That being said, Use the red and white connectors from your camera for audio out of it. I do not know the configuration of your computer, but if it has only one audio in jack, you may want to get two plugs to one audio adapter to get audio into your computer.

The yellow connector is video, and since you are working with S-video, it is not required in your procedure. Hope this helps.
    Hello.

Yes, you still need to attach the audio cables. The S-Video connector is for video only, no audio.

You probably have a yellow/red/white into a mini-jack cable that plugs into the camcorder. Just leave the yellow unplugged at the vcr but the red and white plugged into the corresponding audio out jacks, and connect the S-Video cable from the vcr to the camcorder.
