so my advc-100 arrived, but I was under the impression it would come with a plug adapter for 240v.
I had it shipped to the UK via a pal in Sebastopol, Calif, and from reading the canopus website thought it would come with a small adapter which I would plug the two-pronged lead into and then plug the three-pronged UK plug into the wall.
    No?

and i'm sure there are plenty of places in the UK to buy them.. seeing as how the UK sucks as the preverbial teet of the US.

Having researched a little I see the power unit is rated for both the US and UK (100? and 240v), so I figure I can just switch the entire cable over (I have a spare).
    Anyone confirm this?
    Thanks,
    Will

Doesn't Canopus have a division in the UK? Give them a call and check it out, or check the UK forums and see if anyone has tried the same problems. C'mon Will, do a forum search first

Actually it is rated for 5V. The Black box on the cable steps the voltage down to that level, and changes it to DC current. I think all you need is to change the cable from the black box to the wall outlet. from the manual...

Do not operate at other than specified voltages of AC 100-240
It does say you can run it at 240V AC. So I would assume it would be fine.

Since the adaptor itself is 110/220 v. compatible, all you need is a plug adaptor similar to this one that should be readily available at Radio Shack or similar stores. Plug the adaptor into this and then into the wall. No problem at all. I carry these with me all the time when I travel to Europe with my laptop and portable 8mm Sony TV.

    Yeah, this worked.
I had a spare cable from a VCR but figured there should have been a two pronged to three pronged adapter.
Knowing nothing about electronics/electrics I didn't dare think it would be so easy as switching the cable.
    Thanks,
    Will
