  1. I'm thinking of buying one for about $275 USD and was wondering what owners of this VCR had to say about it's performance? I still have a ton of VHS tapes I want to record to my Panasonic E50 so I'm looking for the best possible playback performance and this VCR has good specifications but the real test of course is actual use by owners.

I had one, hated it, returned it. The picture quality was excellent but the audio tracking had problems on some tapes. After that I tried a JVC SRV10U which had even worse audio, a Mitsubishi HSU778 with good but not perfect audio and mediocre video and a Panasonic (i forget the model number) with good audio but lousy video. I was about ready to give up and then the new JVC HR-S5902U came out and I decided to try one more JVC. It turned out to have as good a picture as the 9911 and no audio problems. It's been going strong now for a few months of heavy use.

  3. Hey thanks for the information. I may consider saving some money and just get the JVC HR-S5902U.

So how is the JVC HR-S5902U? I see that Wal-Mart has it for $175 US... worth it?

I never could find one online in stock so I bought a JVC SR-V10U SVHS Hi-Fi Stereo Professional VCR which has a TBC. I'm happy with this purchase as it works much better than any VCR I have owned.
