when I skated, I went out on my own, or with people who tried to hip me to technique, rather than jumping on my lack of ability and making me feel bad. so I had a good time.

bottom line - if you dig it, do it. nobody is born knowing how to skate (or rip dvd's, or play guitar, or or or...) so if someone around you forgets it and starts talking shit, remind them that we all have to start somewhere.

*sorry.. rant over... that attitude just makes me mad*

oh, and if you're going to listen to "skate rock", listen to some old school stuff - Black Flag, Suicidal Tendencies first album, Big Boys, Corrosion of Conformity, stuff like that. Jeex has a point - new-school Cali pop-punk is for the birds...

goddamit, I hope my drummer brings that set of trucks he promised me... I'm itching to get back on a board...

I skated up until my 9th grade year of school, about 4 years total. I quit because all the people I was hanging out with were all fake. They had no idea of what they wanted, but only what they thought others would like. If you enjoy skating, then skate, just don't fall into the clique of it all.

same here - I'm 32, and haven't skated since I was about 18 or so, but I'm itching to go again... and I amazed myself by still being able to pop an ollie while trying to teach this kid on my block how to do it.

never broke anything, tore my knees and elbows up good though..

I can still Ollie and kickflip. The best trick I could ever land was the 360 Flip. It took forever to learn, but it just looks so cool to do.
