  2. With all the packages that cross the US-Canadian border on a daily basis, I doubt it very seriously. Maybe, and this is a big maybe, they may attack the 'problem' from the distribution end and 'force' US resellers to tack-on the tariff at the time of purchase.

But I doubt that very seriously also.

Plan ahead. Find some of our more esteemed retirees here in the States and scheme with them. Have them bring you the media when they cross the border to find affordable pharmaceuticals.

In all honesty, I don't know how they can stop it. I'm not even sure if that would be 'legal' under NAFTA.

From what I've read this is a Levy and not a tax. Levies are collected by the store selling the media not the government and therefore would not be collected as they cross the border.

This is one of the main reasons I do not believe the levy is fair to the shops in Canada (let alone the consumers) - once the levy increases it'll make buying from the states that much more appealing.

Not all stores appear to collect the levy - the big name shops seem to but the little guys don't. There's a few local shops where you can buy bulk disks for $30 to $40 per 100 - at a current levy of 21 cents it's hard to believe they can sell for a profit at 9 to 19 cents each...
