If someone has some info on adjusting laser power on DVD players, please respond. I have a Koss portable and there are 2 small potentiometer adjustments on the laser block. I presume that one pot is for the CD/mp3 laser and ther other pot is for the DVD laser. The problem with this player is that the laser positioning motor sometimes jumps around excessively when playing mp3. When this happens, there is quite a mechanical noise as the laser block jumps around. Fortunately, due to the memory buffer, the music does not get interrupted. I turned the CD/mp3 laser pot counterclockwise (less power, I assume) about 10 degrees and this seems to reduce the jumping. I'm wondering, if I dare turn it any more, and am I indeed reducing power by turning it ccw. Any discussion on this topic is appreciated. One other question- on this player, the laser motor( when playing mp3) moves with an audible sound about every 5 seconds to push the laser block visibly towards the center of the disk (the wrong direction), then during the 5 second interval, the motor silently a slowly pushes the laser towards the edge of the disk. The sum average motion is if course to push the laser to the edge of the disk. My question, why does the laser need to be pushed towards the center of the disk at all when playing a mp3?
