im trying to make a vcd from a video ts folder i made with discomVOBulator. since disco split the movie into two dvd folders i took the .vob's from the dvd2 folder, renumbered them and put them into the video ts folder in dvd1. it plays fine, and loads into ffmpegX o.k. above open reads:
VIDEO: mpeg-2, size: 720x480, 29.970 fps, 7840 kbps. AUDIO: ac3, 48000Hz, 448 kbps.
when i hit encode it fails in about 3 seconds and i get the following error message from ffmpegX progress:

You're using the "Decode with Quicktime" option. This means that Quicktime is used to read your source movie. Now try to open your movie with Quicktime player. It will not open. This is because you miss the QT mpeg-2 player component to open mpeg-2 with Quicktime.

thanks for the help!!
i've tried both "decode with quicktime" and "decode with mplayer".
i get the same results with both.
also, i do have quicktime pro 6.4 w/ mpeg2 encoder component.
i use a 500mhz g3 imac
theres no spaces or special characters in the path to the video ts folder or my save location.
what am i doing wrong?

Yes it does... I know there are spaces in the destination path, but this was just a quick test. normally the path is straight to the movies directory.
