What program do you use to preview video from a camcorder?

What program would you use to preview video out in the field on a notebook. I have a sony camcorder and a dell notebook and want to preview what I have taped on my notebook using a PCMCIA fire wire card but am not sure what program would be best. I hope that wasn't too confusing to anyone, I know I'm confused

Well since you are running Windows XP, use Windows Movie Maker that is built in. If you haven't updated it on microsofts web site please do. I use it routinely to capture to my hard drive. It can't get any simplier than that. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply jdizzy40, I have never used XP's Movie Maker, does it allow for full screen previewing? I go out 4 wheelin with a group of people and take video as we go. I thought it would be nice if we could preview the video when we stop for lunch. Thanks again

Once you capture it, yes then you can preview in full screen. The capture will take as long as your video is, plus a little extra to finish writing it to your hard drive. Then use Windows Media player to open your file and hit full screen.

Thanks again for the help ... Come on over, we have room for one or two more on Oahu, but only bring one car, we are definetly running out of room for them I wish I was on the mainland so I could go to a football game, guess I'll have to wait until the pro bowl... Well we are going to the Army vs Hawaii football game on the 22nd 8)
