    Hello!

Is the 352x576 a DVD compliant resolution? If so - why Adobe Encore rejects it?

I'd like to archive few VHS videotapes that not require full quality - 720x576...

It's a PAL resolution, you need it at 25 fps to be complient.

Adobe Encore only accepts full DVD resolutions:

    720x480
    704x480

    720x576
    704x576

Of course it is 25 fps, but it's still rejected by Adobe Encore.

I know that just the way it is with this application. May be further releases wil fix this problem.

For PAL it is. See DVD Faq:

    "Allowable picture resolutions are:
    MPEG-2, 525/60 (NTSC): 720x480, 704x480, 352x480, 352x240
    MPEG-2, 625/50 (PAL): 720x576, 704x576, 352x576, 352x288
    MPEG-1, 525/60 (NTSC): 352x240
    MPEG-1, 625/50 (PAL): 352x288"

Perhaps Encore doesn't like half-D1 resolution. I heard that Encore doesn't support DVD-Video compliant MPEG-1 video either, which is perfectly valid.

Looks like you might need to try another DVD authoring program. I know Sonic's ReelDVD supports all the valid picture resolutions.

Ya encore does not accept half d1 resolutions. Someone claims that you can run the half d1 files throught dvd patcher and they will work in encore but I never tried it.
