I have been using some Shintaro ( Princo ) 4x but have found that some disc stop halfway so I'm not going with them anymore
I haven't had any probs ( so far ) with Shintaro 1x - but hey who wants to wait an hour or so to burn
You mentioned in another post you were using TDK's and Maxell's
Where were you getting the Maxell's from??? -
I have just been on the website of The Disk Shop, which has quite a few shops around the place. They have some dvd-r media for pretty good prices. I mainly use ritek dvd-r 4x media which has been reliable for me, but I have also used laser brand white top dvd-r 4x media, which is princo. These have been ok as well, so far anyway. The website is www.thediskshop.com.au if you want to have a look.

I am in Brisbane as well...
I order from www.digicity.com.au
50 Ritek 4x DVD-R for 128 dollars, add 8 or 9 dollars for shipping.
Went thru more than 300 disks from the site and never had a problem. -
I second the Disc Shop (www.thediscshop.com.au).
Never had a problem with them and their service is great. -

yeah i just tried some UL-Tran Media !-4x and they are crap

From the Disc Shop Mansfield,
My first batch was 20 tub of laser 4x. All worked OK. 2nd batch were exactly the same & all 20 were dud discs, stopping, skipping & pausing half way through (These are Princo by the way) , then I bought their 50 tub of glossy white topped Shintaro 1 x. All have worked so far and are also Princo, The next batch bought is another 50 tub of Shintaro 1x (but with white prinatble surface) I have burnt 10 successfully & now all of a sudden they are starting to skip and go to crap! I have noticed the serial numbers on the inner circle of the disc have changed when the discs started to skip.
This problem is very annoying, it's like luck of the draw with these damn Princos, they also have cheap rough looking edges. The disc shop told me to bring the remaining discs back and they will test them (ie burn them) but it would be my luck, the rest all burn fine! I think im gonna get some Riteks, end of story.....! -
i just prchased a tub of 50 dvd -r for $ 79 from the discshop.com.au they have a purple top and work fine in a sonydru510a and liteon ldw411s

Further to my last post, those guys in the returns section at Mansfield Disc Shop are a complete bunch of cocksucking inbred redneck ********!

I don't use Princo's (Laser), they are bad, The Disc shops own brand were also bad. I have bought Verbatim 4X from PC-Supermarket.com for $4, also pcx.com.au for other varieties (Mail order from Sydney).

Guys,
Grab some That's (Taiyo Tuden) 4x -R from TheDiscShop. These discs are made in Japan and are TOP quality.
At around $3.00 (Aust) a piece these are very good value. The LDW-411s likes this media and burns very well to it.
Take your chances on the Laser brand stuff. At the moment the 4x -R 25 packs are AN32 discs. Fine in Pio A06, 411s doesn't have available write descriptor for 4x on these discs.
Get the That's (TY's), anyone here that knows their media will tell you how good they are.

tried the Laser brand an32 last nite on a sony dru510a and they worked fine at 4x and also played on customers dvd which would not play with Smart Disc media that was burnt at 4x but would play if u burnt it at 2X
