Hello everyone, I am a newbie and I just got my first DVD burner. I am confused, which one is better dvd-r or dvd+r for dvd movies? Your opinion will be greatly appreciated.

There are about the same.
I believe all latest (after 2001) DVD standalone players, plays both well.
Personaly, I vote for the best / cheap discs. Currently those are DVD-Rs. In 6 months, we don't know.... -
What disks you buy should depend upon what type of DVD burner you bought. I assume that it is a dual-format writer, but you did not say. If it will only write +R or -R, then obviously you should not buy the ones which your writer cannot burn.

there aren'y any major differences between the two, only a few.
generally, DVD-R can hold maybe 1MB or 2MB (not sure of the exact size) more than DVD+R. Burning speed for DVD+R is usually a couple of minutes faster than DVD-R. they are more or less the same in specs.
I dont give any preference to either, i just buy which one ever is cheaper.
I can only recommend that you buy the one which is compatable with your DVD Player, DVD Rom, PS2, XBOX etc. -
Actually I bought Sony DRU 510 dual format. Thank you for your help. I think I'll be getting dvd-r cause they are cheaper. btw, does anyone here know if Ritek G03 is compatible with PS2, the website doesnt mention it.
