change disks
change burner
pick one of the above ..
(im not going to list clean burner as that would be a different error)
these new disks that dont play -- have you tried them in a different player ? I would do that first before anything else .."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
then change player (or clean it)

what do you recomend to clean a player. i used one of those cleaners you buy at the store......the dvd player is only 6 months old

going off what I have learned, the cleaners you buy at the store are worthless. To attempt a cleaning on your own, crack the case open and around (turn the power off when the tray is "ejected") where the dvd would sit, there should be a glass piece about the width of a pencil eraser head. With a qtip and rubbing alchohol, clean the lense.
The thing is, with a 6 month old player, unless the location is prone to A LOT of dust or you are a 3 pack a day smoker, you shouldnt be having problems. It may be an laser alignment. That is not for the faint of heart. Your best bet is to return the player and scream to get a new one.
If you just want to fiddle with the player, there MAY be a gear on the player that you can turn in one direction or another. you'll need to note where the gear is at first, then move it a little at a time and then play different types of media. Once it plays everything, you are done.
It is and isnt as easy as it sounds. Better to take the player back and get another one. -
i agree 100% w/ macleod
thats the way to do it (or not do it) ..
