can any one help i have optorite dd0203, i have managed to get around the multisession routine to do dvdr to work, but i the drive doesn't read any cd i put in, or takes ages to read, can anyone shed light on this,

This is most likely a drive configuration issue in Windows XP (or the worst - defective drive). I had a problem with EPO DVD-ROM drive installed on one of my computers: while installing Windows XP the drive was perfectly working and installed Windows without hiccup. I was so surprised when the drive stopped recognizing CD or DVD disks immediately after installing Windows and rebooting the system, including the same Windows XP installation disk. As I remember, I went to Device Manager and changed the settings of the IDE channel where the drive was attached to (secondary) from DMA to PIO. Although it fixed the problem, I got rid of that drive and installed CD-RW drive instead. Optorite DD0203 worked well on the same computer though...
