I used DVD2SVCD to make a VCD. The source material, the mpeg and the burned copy on the CD all play correctly on my pc, but in my cheap sony dvd player, the sound lags about a 1/2 second behind. I've made many vcd using DVD2SVCD that work correctly.
Any clue why the sound is out of sync on my dvd player but not my pc with exactly the same disc?

its the media .. or the method of burning... or the software.. or the bitrate.. or the player.. or the content.. or the weather.. or YOU HAVE PBC on.

You might try looking in the bbMPEG tab of DVD2DVCD and make sure that "Movie Offset in Seconds" is not set to "0". If set to "0" , it can cause sync problems with stand-alone DVD players. The default is "2".
Also -- if "Audio downsample 48->44.1" was checked in the "AUDIO" tab, it might cause an issue with some DVD players. Not sure though.
