  1. I'm trying to burn some AVI files that I downloaded on DVD-rs. I was wondering if there is a good conversion guide that will let me keep good video quality, and have good audio quality at the same time. DTS or 5.1 sound on the DVD would be great if possible. Any ideas?

You can't get what you don't have (in this case). If the audio in the AVI is DTS or 5.1 (very rare) then there's nothing that prevents you from keeping it in the DVD, but mostly there's only 2 cannel audio on the average downloaded AVI.
I'd recomment trying this guide for general pointers!
