    That's like the "How long is a piece of string" type of question and it depends on the make of blank media. For instance Ritek warranty their DVD's for 30 years provided it is stored under the conditions specified by them. Princo give no statement of life on their web site so basically they promise nothing. Taiyo Uden say 100 years and so on. Have a look around the web sites for the media you use.

    ritek's will last 49 years, 7 months, 3 days, 4 hours, 16 minutes and 23 seconds .... give or take a few seconds ..

    my 49 year old DVD's are in pretty rough shape as they got really bent as they went through the pinch rollers of the reel to reel players back then ..


    plus wrapping them around the hub didnt do them much good either ..

    on a turntable - the needle would just slid off, tried to take a layer of plastic off so the needle would contact the alum layer (recordable dvd were not around so dye was not an issue) but all you would get would be some awefull noise .... i thought it might be some of that new fangled devil music , rock and roll and or whatever ... when you played it backwards you heard "sony will make more than cheap transistor radios some day"

  8. I been transferring my DVD's to crystal cube format. The crystal cube burner's are a bit pricey around $600.00 dollars. But I got a good deal on my as the WiZZ was closing there store on Babylon 5. LOL
