Creating split point with Decrypter for DVD-9's. Help please

When burning a DVD-9 with DVD Decrypter, how do I create a split point between disks if ripping and burning with Decrypter. Any assistance is much appreciated.

Second question. I want to retain as much quality as possible on my backup movies, and really don’t mind changing out disks during a movie. On my HDTV will I see a noticeable difference if I do compress a DVD-9 to a single disk? Also, remind me of good compression freware please.
