  1. Hello all
First i must say what a great site this is
really helped me out on a number of occasions.

    So here we go again.

I have done a number of DVDs now witout any problem
using dvd decrypter / DVDX / NERO.
this week Iv'e tried to backup two music DVDs
the picture seems fine but the sound is distorted
sounds like it's being played super loud on crappy speakers
but with the volume turned down Thats the only way I can
    explain what it's like. Iv'e tried ac3 6ch & ac3 2ch in the sound setting
but both were the same. The vob files on the HD play fine with
good sound so it must be in the decoading where the problem is
I know some might advise me to use different sofware but up till
now this has worked fine and i've got used to it.

Any advice would be greatly appreaciated thank all.

    You need to repost
    1.what the original discs were
2.what the audio files on the orig were DOLBY, DTS or LINEAR PCM
    3. What proggie backed it up..did it transcode?..did you use defaults or accidently crank the audio?

this needs to be known if you would like any help at all

  4. Thanks for the advice
    I ripped with dvddecrypter
    then used dvdx to encode
then nero to burn to vcd

the original dvds were music concerts
    ac/dc and joe crocker
first i used the defaults when it didn't sound right
i tried messin with the settings but it still came out the same
normal dvds give me no problem.
    thanks..

Its got to be DVDx thats making the AUDIO too loud..there's also a possiblity that the error comes in the transcoding to 44KHZ sample rate
to make the required format ok for VCD playback..
    TRY using
TMPGENC to make a VCD compliant file from the DECRYPTED FILES you might still have on the hard drive...
because something is happening lever or sample rate wise

    as far as level
i remember a small number in DVDx that defaults to 3
in the audio area of DVDx..haven't used it in over a year so someone speak up..but try reducing that to 1 and re-make a small piece...YOU can let it fly, stop in progress and test out the partial file for quality...
