when playing a dvd, take for example the x-files, and the small subtitled caption comes up to tell you that the its "Area 51 11:08am", or say when the ogre's talk in lord of the rings and subtitles appear so you can see what their saying, is this part of the main subtitle stream or is it seperate.
I ask because i use scenarist to layout my dvd's and i would prefer to leave all subtitles streams out, but if their going to include information like above they i will have to leave it out.

Yes, those subtitles are embedded in the movie and cannot be taken out, as far as I know.

We have two kinds of subtitles here. One is permanent subtitle that is inserted in film and cannot be removed. The other one is a forced subtitle. It's like a normal DVD subtitle, but it's shown only when a foreign language is used in the film.
