  1. Am having trouble with my Datavideo DAC-100. Scenalyzer is showing an error that stats that the driver is unavailable. I do not recall installing a driver when I first bought the DAC-100 several years ago.

Any idea where to get an update of the driver? Datavideo's site does not show any.

I can get video and audio from the DAC-100 to my TV, but cannot get it into the computer via firewire. Do not know if it is the driver or the firewire.

Even tried WinDV and it is the same.

Sounds like a firewire issue. There isn't a "driver" to install for the DAC-100. Windows should see it as a digital camcorder or something similar.

  3. Any idea what the firewire issue could be? Windows is seeing it as a camera, but will not show any steady video. When the video and audio comes in it comes and go.

Check the jumper settings on the DAC-100. Could be set to teh wrong frame rate, PAL instead of NTSC, etc.

  5. The jumper settings was the first thing I checked. It was working great then not working.

  6. I had my PC in the shop for something else and they checked the firewire connection and it was OK. Being the DAC-100 outputs to my TV fine, but not with the firewire could the problem be my firewire cable. It is fairly new and worked great then it started not working.

I can turn the DAC off and then back on and it works fine for a few seconds. Then it comes and goes. This is the case for both audio and video. I even checked it with WinDV and Movie Maker.

Might be a defective unit. I have that happen occasionly when I hit a spot on a tape that is blank, since there's no signal the DAC-100 doesn't seem to know what to do, so it jumps to PAL mode then starts stuttering. But again it's rare that it happens. Are you using a Time Base Corrector? Are these master tapes, commerically produced tapes, or high gen tapes? If they are high gen tapes, a TBC may help your situation.

  8. Ok I was home early today and did some playing around with the DAC. The DAC works fine using both Movie Maker and WinDV, but will not work steady with Scenalyzer. So now I think it is Scenalyzer that is the problem.

Are there any other capture programs that you can set up a scheduled capture?

To answer your question about the captures I am using the DAC for capturing shows from my satellite receiver.

I use Scenalyzer all the time, though never with the scheduler. Can you do a capture with scenalyzer manually without the scheduler? Also is the "disable device control" box checked in the options/capture tab?

No, I cannot do a capture manually because it never locks in the audio/video on the preview window.

I checked the "disable device control" and it was unchecked. I checked it and WORKS!!!!!!!!

    Thanks Dr_Layne.

Are you using the latest version of Scenalyzer? Just curious if it works better.

I haven't noticed any improvement in the new version since I only use it with the DAC-100. The new version has extra features for indexing tapes with a DV camera.
