  1. Hello,

I have a problem using my Canopus ADVC-100 - and am really struggling to find an answer... can anyone help?

When I preview footage off tape, prior to capture, the footage is 'blocky' and there is no audio.

I can capture from DVCamera using my fire-wire - fine. I also know the ADVC-100 works, as I have converted between analog & digital and digital->analog (using TV -> DV Camera and vice-versa). The ADVC-100 has also been tested on 2 Apple Mac's and the suppliers PC.

I have tested this in WinDV & Adobe Premier 6.0 - and get the same result.

I have a Dell PC (which I have now rebuilt whilst trying to solve this problem), Windows 2000 and I am using a Texas Instrument fire-wire card.

Basically, when previewing off tape, I get a blocky image and no audio

    Can anyone help?

ps: I am attempting to capture from the analogue out of a DV Camera (just because its easier to test with than having a VCR or TV next to my desk) This wouldnt cause the problem, would it?

Any help will be greatly appreciated, Thanks for your time

The one thing that is commonly reported is a problem between the ADVC-100 and TI firewire chips! There are countless entries is this forum about it. Best suggestion is replace the firewire with any other chipset. The Via should be just fine, and it should be one of the cheapest. Also the ADS technologies Pyro cards are good, but more money and possibly a better card.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

  3. Canopus also offers really great forum and support. Check it out at www.canopus.com

I've been really impressed with the advice and input through that forum.
