  1. How could I capture footage from my DV camera (via firewire) frame by frame.

I am doing an animation film with some toys (Im only a kid I swear) and want to just capture 1 frame, move the toy, capture another frame and so on...

I downloaded this free proggy called SMA and that will capture a frame each time I click a button then at the end save it as an AVI. However, I can only seem to get my USB webcam to display anything as the DV cam just shows a black screen (no the lens cap is off!).

    Thanks boys and girls

  2. I'd take stills and then transfer them (however).

This thread on Time Lapse may also give you some ideas.

your camera may have a time lapse mode - check the specs.

otherwise, I would suggest this - set up your camera, record all your toy moves in one continuous video shoot. capture that, then use Virtualdub to export frames, or find an AviSynth script that will do it for you.

you actually wouldn't even need to export the frames - just use Vdub to cut out all the frames of shadows, your hands, etc, and once you are done cutting, you'll just have the animation frames left.

I would say film the entire sequence (car, move the car, car, move the car, etc). Then edit the move the car sequence out, so it looks as if the car is jerkily moving by itself.
    Hello.

I would say get a cheap digital still camera and take stills, then just import them into your editer and make into a movie.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?
