I've got a few PC games on disk that I want to convert to ISO format so that I can just mount them as an image using DAEMON tools instead of swapping disks.

The problem is, I've tried CloneCD and Isobuster on them and they both grind to a halt after about half an hour with only about 5% done. I realise there is protection on these CDs, but surely these progs should get around that?

    Any tips are greatly appreciated.
    Regards,

  2. Just get a NO-CD patch. What this does it fake the computer in thinking you put the CD in the drive therefore allowing you play your games without a CD.

Just install game... apply patch... start game. No CDs required.

900+ posts, I think he knows what a no-cd patch does.

    rhegedus -
I dont know if it helps you any, since im in OSX, but to make a .iso from a cd takes as long as it would to burn the disk (just like burning the disk to your HD is all its doing) actually its even faster now that I think of it.

sometimes they get stuck on cd's that are say protected.... so im just spitting out some ideas here, but if the games are relatively new that could be the cause. Otherwise, it should be really quick.

I said that because he said "instead of swapping disks" meaning he wants to play games without placing the game cd in the drive. If he already knew about the no-cd patch then we wouldn't have any problems.

As for making ISOs try using Alcohol 120% found here.

Yeah, I know what a no_CD patch is , but not all games have one i.e. Flight Sim 2004.

    Site down................

    I think that fs9.exe relates to FS95 and FS 98, not FS2004.

    I'll try again..........

Found it somewhere else - thanks for the help! Had looked previously, but not in the right places........

On the ISO front, I tried Alcohol and got about 200 disk errors in the forst 15 mins with less than 1% completed...........
