  1. My pc config:-

ASROCK Motherboard (presumably made by ASUS)
Kingston sdram 256 mb double sided pc133 1pc
    40 HD
    DVD writer etc

My 'problem' is actually not a problem but a bonus!!!

I plucked in the 256, Guess what the BIOs and window said.. 512
Try as I might with check Ram, Norton etc all said 512mb but I know it's a 256mb I paid for. Installed into another pc it's 256mb!!!

Now I suspect it's the mobo. Asked the vendor, cannot get a satisfactory answer(they insisted that I have a 512mb ram)

Anyone having this weird thing with ASRock? Any explanation? Just curious to know why.

  2. ASrock yep I got one and they are as solid as a rock. Use wcpuid or other utility or memtest. SHit, if i got an extra 256 i would be ROFLMAO!,
Have you gone into the Bios and checked there? Which bios have you got? cos the shipped bios is very basic. 1.9 is much better and very stable.
Asrock were partfinanced by asus and used their technology, but I think they have cut their ties as asus make their own range of budget M/b's.
Looking at your post again they havent fobbed you off with 512mb of pc133 sdram rather than 256mb of DDram?

  3. No, Bios said 512 mb alright ASRock is a good mobo no doublt about that!!!
Rabitdog, you must be kidding, I know and can see the difference between DDR and SDR. Maybe I will try to pluck in a 512mb DDR and "open Saseme" I get 1gb!!! Probably I am the only one "lucky" enough to experience this.

Maybe read the little numbers that are printed on the chips, and count the number of those chips.

Sounds like you're computer is playing a trick on you...lol.

If it says 512 but you put in 256 then wouldn't you think you only have 256?

  7. Yes I have a nagging feeling that it's not a true 512 but my windows is behaving nicely. On top of that I have installed Cachemen to monitor the ram usage . It shows a balance of more than 256 mb. I have no complain whatsoever. Just want to confirm whether anyone have similar experience with ASRock and Kingston ram PC133 double-sided
