depending on what codex's you have......
convert your wmp divx to .mov using a divx validator or divx doctor.
this will allow you to open it in Quicktime and acutally hear and see the video. Next, go to EXPORT and choose the TOAST VCD Option.
this will export it as mpeg1 which is VCD ready to burn using toast.
Or you can use FFMPEGX, and take the file directly to .mpeg1 using the mpeg1 codex. This is more "complicated" process if you have not done it before than the quicktime method.
both work well. -
Or if you don't have Quicktime Pro to export, then simply click and drag your .mov file into Toast, with the Video CD option selected.

is it truly a .avi file?
1. open the .avi in quicktime.... what do you get?
you shoudl get video but no audio
2. open the .avi in video lan... what do you get?
you should get video with sound
3. rename it to .avi ON YOUR MAC, and use divx doctor 2
your resulting .mov should open now in quicktime with sound and video.
4. if that doesnt work, use Divx Validator (part of the latest divx codex) and do the same thing, resulting .mov should have video and sound
if they dont work with either of these, it could be corrupt or have some problem *ive had this before they play fine but cant be converted to .mov.
let me know the answers to these ?';s -
What you told me was a great help thanks!
OK what about converting a .mpg file which i can see in my mac. It seems to have been coded with divx?
I want to convert it so I can write it to a VCD in Toast on Mac? -
if you have a .mpeg1 (VCD) all you do is drop it into toast under the VCD option. Or you can manually build the vcd image using VCDToolsX
just open the app, choose the 2nd button, a new window will appear then add your .mpeg file(s) [total max size is about 790megs for a 80 min 700 meg cdr] once done, choose a save location, save as xxx.bin. then switch to VCD button and then push start. It will then convert your .mpeg into a .bin/.cue which you can either burn with toast 6 or with any of the freeware vcd/svcd burners [missing media burner, firestarter FX]
hope that makes since
