Just curious to know what some of the members here do for a living. I thought about making up this topic when I read about Solarjetman flying airplanes. And I always read that alot of you are visiting the site while at work.

Anyway, I work overnight at Home Depot, as a fork lift operator. So no time for visiting DVDRHELP.com while at work, have to wait till I get home.

I am currently/recently unemployed. So at the moment nothing. Before that I worked in television. I probably won't work in TV in the area I'm in again.

I work in the auto industry for a very large manufacturer. I started when I was 19 and now have 22 years with them. I'll be eligable for retirement in 8 years wich will put me at 50. With any luck and if the stock market turns around, maybe I'll be able to.

With work and a family, I have limited amount of time on this site.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........

I know exactly what you mean, the main reason I work overnight is because my wife goes to school and works also, so when I get home she leaves and I have to watch my 17 month old daughter. I am 21 years old and have to take naps whenever she decides to take one. So she pretty much decides how much sleep I am going to get during the day.

I work for a facilities management & printing company - 1/2 is commercial print, the other 1/2 is staffing copy, mail & fax centers for law firms, colleges & other businesses.

I work at one of our client sites, as receptionist for a social-service organization. the nice thing is, it's 6 blocks from my house, so I get to go home and eat lunch with my wife most days.

I do both PC and Mac tech support for just about every brand of computer under the sun as part of an extended warranty service. The job itself doesn't pay as well as I'm used to, and they basicly took away all our benefits recently (butt munches) but right now its a job so I'm hanging onto it.

Yes there is, but in the end, they won. The bastards made it more trouble than the money was worth. Even in these times where jobs can be scarce, I could no longer tolerate some things. And in the end, they lost! They will find it very difficult to get a replacement that could do all the things I did. It will mean that management will no longer rest easy on special projects, knowing that I will make it get on the air. So they will have to work longer hours on those days to see those projects through . Basically they can kiss my @ss ! I am too good at so many things to let them F' up my life they way they were. I hope the bottom falls out of the ratings bucket, and they crash down to the bottom . TimeWarner cable local news is coming to town, and I hope they make a big dent in the ratings. It was an ABC station, and we all know that ABC has nothing of value on during primetime. Their only saving point is the local news, and I hope that gets chewed up and spit out ! I also wish a lot of other very dark things toward certain management, but will not mention them here. I hope those bastards are reading this too! I used to come here on my dinner break, and I know they logged screen shots of where my terminal went on the internet, so I hope they come back to check up on things! F'ing bloodsucking, inhuman BASTARDS! I hope they rot in HELL for all eternity, and since I'm going there for wishing such things, I hope I am their tormenter down there!

  24. pyrate is correct. Now is one of the worst times to get a job. I have been unemployed for about 6 months now. It is twice as difficult for me because I am trained in computer harware and networking. I have gone to several recruiters, and I am not joking, without seeing my resume first, one let out a little chuckle that I am looking for an entry level position. Then he said "Good Luck" in one of those "I doubt you will" tones.

It royally pissed me off. I kept my cool on the phone, but I never called him agian. But every recuiter I have talk too has said the same thing. There are basically no entry level posisitions because there is a huge surplus of experienced people looking.

I am a full time student(pre-med biology) and I currently hold two jobs. One is at my school to kill time between classes and make some extra change working with professors in labs(great for recommendations in the future) and the other is working part time at blockbuster. But I think I'll have to quit over there becuase lately they've been giving me too many hours cuz they're inefficient and understaffed and I cant balance studies with nearly a full time job.

I did something like that, but instead of money, I got college credit. It was watching over about 30 students and helping them with the projects they had to do for the class. The class was a sophmore level lab that dealt with creating simple computer processors and logic design (using NANDs, NORs, XORs, things like that)

And thanks for the support Slick Rick, I am sure something will come along. Just need to keep trying. I have been doing odd jobs for money in the mean time.

Mentors over here have the choice of cash or credit for their services. But what I do is help conduct experimets.
