  1. most of my divx movies keep freezing in my liteon dvd player. I've heard that it was because of too high a bitrate. I was wondering if anyone knew of a FAQ or could help me to reencode the audio so they will play on the lvd-2001.

    Thx

Could you give some details of the DivX movies that freeze? I don't know of any FAQ, the freezing problem is only buggng me when I try to fast forward a DivX or Xvid on my LiteOn 2001.

  3. As far as I know it's only Divx 3.11 files that freeze and it only happens when the video bitrate gets too high. I don't think the audio bitrate has any effect, as I've played Divx 5.xx and Xvid files with mp3 and ac3 audio of all kinds with no difficulty.

There's a problem with the playback of DivX 3.XX, I convert all the DivX 3.XX files to 5.X to avoid problems.
Perhaps LiteOn will make new firmware in the future to deal with the DivX 3.X problem, let's wait and see.

  5. I get the same freezing problems with 3.XX files. Also, I get flashes of blue screen, mostly with DiVX 3 files, but on rare occasions with other codecs as well. Is anyone else having this problem?

No problems playing DivX 5/4 Xvid, are there any problems with the DivX files themselve? Try VDub > check stream for errors and cut them out of the original.

No prob. Most of the time the error only lasts for a few frames, when you cut them out you'll hardly notice the difference. I think I've tried the "mask" trick also but remember that that doesn't work (had something to do with audio out of sync, oh well ... never mind).

To check video for bad frames:
    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/142555.php

When you use VirtualDub and a window pops up and says that a VBR audio stream is detected you must use Nandub or you will get audio sync problem.

    Good luck

  10. Thanks for the replys. I guess it is only my divx 3.11 files that are freezing. My problem with converting them to divx 4 or 5 is that using virtual dub it takes 6 hours to convert and I have a couple hundred files. I heard somewhere that divx 3.11 files work fine when the audio bitrate is 96k or less. I was wondering if it would be quicker to reencode the audio than to convert it to divx 4 or 5.

Check this site http://www.kitsapcomputers.com/lvd06.htm by Albert Roux, he did some intensive testing. You might find an answer there
