Even on this forum this has to be posted. The Monday Night Football game tonight was in the top 3 games I've EVER SEEN MY ENTIRE LIFE! The Colts were getting blown out the entire game..down 28 points...and then 21 points with ONLY 4 minutes left in the game! No team in NFL HISTORY HAS EVER come back from 21 points down or more with less then 4 minutes remaining in the game..but the COLTS MADE HISTORY TONIGHT!
Anyone that knows anything about football can really start believing in divine intervention. Dungy was let go unjustly and it was almost like supernatural forces allowing for something so unfathomable...it still isn't believable! It's a shame how many quitters there are in the world..one thing that makes me sick is a quitter. I even know a couple of friends that turned the game off when Tampa Bay was up by 28 points..and what about all the Bucs fans that left the game thinking they won in a BLOW OUT...lmao...wait til' the people in Tampa wake up tomorrow and see the NewsPaper...WOW......WHAT?? WHAT??? WE LOST...BUT HOW...HOW...THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE...THAT'S A MISTAKE...NO WAY CHARLIE....

This game was BEYOND INCREDIBLE.....and it would be more accurate to call it a MIRACLE..because that's EXACTLY what it was! AMAZING....

yeah, it was an amazing game.. but it was horribly officiated.. in the 4th quarter & OT, the refs were giving the colts a shitload of calls.. quite possibly the most horribly officiated game i've ever seen..
i'm not really a tampa fan, in fact i really hate warren sapp's fat ass..
vanderjagts first onsides kick was absolutely beautiful.. i've been wondering why more kickers dont try that.. but technically couldnt the bucs have called a fair catch? the ball never hit the ground after it touched his foot, the ball went beyond 10 yards, and yes you can call a fair catch on the kickoff..
its really a shame for the bucs though, thats the second game they've lost do to a "miracle".. this one to me was much less of a miracle. -
I know exactly what you mean. I'm from indy and even I gave up hope and turned to fox but went back later and felt a comeback. Dungy is a great coach and Manning is a great QB. That was one the one best and most exciting games I've ever seen in my life. The colts lost my respect when they lost to the dolphins(If I recall correctly, they didnt even score once!) during the playoffs last year but they earned it back last night. What a great monday...first the sox pull it off and then the colts. Two combacks back 2 back.
Jeex, I was wondering that too(the fair catch thing) but then I thought it wasnt possible...and I agree, the refs officiated terribly. -
@ Jeex... the calls were terrible for BOTH TEAMS. The refs ...specifically "JOHNNY GREER" who has been in the league about 20 years called running into the kicker after Rhodes was just laying there and the punter fell over HIM! NO WAY IN HELL you make that call in a game like that! Too many kickers do an excellent acting job and the refs KNOW THIS..instead they GAVE TAMPA THE GAME..I mean they HANDED TAMPA THE GAME...said...here....you get three more downs..get TEN MEASLY YARDS and WIN with a Grammatica Field Goal.
Instead...INDY SOLIDS UP ON D'....AND TAMPS GETS TWO YARDS IN THREE DOWNS...is forced to punt...and MANNING MADE AMAZING PASSES. The refs didn't change the outcome of that game..they made one bad call on BOTH TAMPA's punt..and eventually INDY's field goal.
No...Rice didn't use leverage...and it was a bad call by the officials..but TAMPA got their GIFT call and did nothing with it. And truthfully...Tampa didn't deserve that game. UP BY 21 points with LESS THEN 4 MINUTES LEFT...and with "TAMPA'S DEFENSE"......they didn't deserve it....AMAZING GAME.
As far as the onside kick goes...i'll explain it...you CAN'T call a fair catch in that situation. First of all...Tampa had no clue what side of the field VANDERJAGT was going to kick to....in addition..they didn't know if it was going to be a "boom" ground kick....a "SPIN" bounce kick.....or one of a dozen other kicks. So Tampa is there trying to guess where the ball is going while Indy knows where it's going. Then the kick is made....it was a PERFECT FLOATING KICK..and that is a VERY DIFFICULT KICK to make..that's why they didn't try it again...it has to be PERFECT or you'll never get a chance at the ball. It has to have just enough PERFECT hang time...very difficult kick.
The second reason you can't call fair catch in that situation is because in order to call a fair catch..the BALL HAS TO ABSOLUTELY BE GOING TO A SPECIFIC PLAYER. The reason the "FAIR CATCH" is part of football is to protect the player...no other reason. Without the fair catch..there would be substantially more SERIOUS injuries because especially on PUNTS where a punter puts the ball at 5 seconds or more of HANG TIME..the entire special teams coverage is coming at an exposed player with no way of protecting himself as he is trying to make the catch. That's why the decision to fair catch a ball is one of the most difficult decisions in all of football. If you are a solid return man....like that Sick MOFO Dante Hall..you want to NEVER call a fair catch....but if you screw around and make the wrong decison once....your head will get taken off and you may be lucky to walk again.
So basically there are two reasons you can't call fair catch in that situation.
1) Have no clue what kick is coming to begin with....it happens so fast you have to try and recover with the "hands" team. And ground kicks can't have fair catch called on them anyway.
2) The ball isn't going to a specific person on an onsides kick..as everyone is bunched together. Therefore, you can't call for a fair catch.
As a matter of fact..when INdy recovered..a Tampa Player didn't even have a chance at the ball...that's how PERFECTLY executed that onsides play was. If anything,..INDY SHOULD OF CALLED FAIR CATCH...LMAO -
i'm still standing behind my feelings on tampa being robbed of a victory due to the most horrible officiating i've ever seen.. yeah, tampa got some calls, but indy got wayyyyyy more calls late in the game that gave them the victory.. heads should roll in the officiating ranks after that game.
but still, i must say that vanderjagt onsides kick, magnifique!!
and i also will admit that peyton did play a great 4th quarter game, but no way he gets it done had it not been the most horrible offciating i've ever seen. -
This is what I get for predicting a shutout by half time and shutting off the TV to read.
I'm shocked... I mean the first half the Colts looked so... so... HORRIBLE.
