I think this is the proper forum for this, if not, sorry.

I am in the process of re-installing my Bungee DVD TV capture following a hard drive crash. The Bungee worked fine prior to the crash but I was unable to load the Canon drivers (more relevancy later).

I have loaded the s/w from CD, and run the 'assistant' program. it fails the very first test, just says an unknown error occured, the remaining tests pass. When I click on the Bungee icon, I get the following message: "Hardware initialization error", then click OK and get "Cannot load PCLEVideo<x>.ax" with a details button. Clicking on this button gives the usual suggestions - check pwr cable, USB cable, sound card, PCTV in use by another program and a TWAIN driver is running. The first three options are not the problem. The fourth should not be a problem becasue the Bungee is the only program open and the fifth option I'm not sure of. I loaded the drivers for my Canon digi-cam which comes with a TWAIN driver, however, best as I can tell, it does not run unless downloading video or stills. Does anyone know if this is correct and know of any reason why it's not working? I'm at the point of trying to uninstall the Canon drivers.

Also, I have tried to uninstall the original Bungee driver to upgrade to V1.5 - it goes thru the motions of uninstalling, but windows still shows it as being present. Additionally, when I try to reinstall the original drivers, I get some sort of 'Pinnacle shared program violation error', and it aborts the program. Do I have to use the 'regdelete' program to remove the driver - similar to the Studio 8?

    Thanks in advance.

This might help, and if not I am out of ideas:

go to my computer ---> control panel ---> system ---> hardware ---> device manager.

Then find the listing for the Bungee capture device, and un-install it (it should have a red X or a yellow? on it. Then close all the windows and shut down the computer. Wait a few seconds and power the computer back on. It should now find the bungee and install the drivers properly. To upgrade the driver follow the above path and right click on the working Bungee device listing, then scroll down to properties. Click the driver tab and check the version, if you want to upgrade click on the update driver button and follow it to the end.

Almost forgot the Bungee has a twain driver for when you capture stills from the video, same as for the Canon and they should only get used when you are runing the app that came with each one. The only way I have had success with my Bungee was to run it on its own computer. It is now a strictly Bungee based PVR. I had a lot of conflicts with other software when I tried to run it on a system with other devices. The pinnacle software moved all of the directX routines and some of the other software could not find them. It was a real pain until I put it in its own box and left it alone! All my testing was done with win2000 sp2, XP might be completely different!

Can't help you out, but I will say that was the only external card I ever really liked. Shame it was discontinued.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

Village Idiot - I tried to delete it from the device manager but there is no icon for the Bungee, so no luck there.

I've even gone as far as to check the registry to eliminate any reference to the bungee, but again, there are no string values containing a reference to bungee or even PCTV. I also have deleted all the drivers in the subdirectory that I have tried to uninstall, but control panel-add/remove programs still show it as present. So I am still at a loss to what to do. I'm seriously considering setting up a seperate computer just for Bungee as you have done.

Lord Smurf - I've visited your website and see that you do mostly cartoon DVD's. Great guides by the way. Did you capture any using the Bungee, and if so, what program did you use to edit commercials. I've used Studio8 and it seems to work, however, I've had some problems with audio, either it isnt there at all or drops in and out throughout the video, both burning DVD and VCD.

I also agree with yours and Lord Smurf's comments about the Bungee, until this problem, it worked great for TV capture (that's the only reason I bought it) and I wish that Pinnacle still offered support.

    Thanks again.
