Ricoh MP6200s too old to burn (s)vcd?

hi,

I have an MP6200s (with latest firmware) burns data & audio no problem (nero 5.5) but i try to burn (s)vcd from cue/bin or using the wizard for compliant mpeg's and I get an error saying 'please insert writable media' I have checked previous to burn that it was a new blank cd (have tried verbatim, sony and tdk, 74 and 80's)
Is my burner to old and not capable of writing (s)vcd? anyone had the same problem?

Also if I have to buy a new CD-WR and reccomendations, (pure CD-RW not combi's and SCSI)

I was able to burn VCD's (never tried SVCD) with mine. The fact that it's a VCD shouldn't really matter. I ended up replacing it, mainly due to the fact that I was getting tired of waiting 20-30 mins to burn, and I wanted something newer that could possibly overburn more.
