Anyone can give me a suggestion about the best receiver to use with a Philips 711 ?

just as a note here, a receiver and dvd player are two different creatures entirely.
here is what I recommend for complimenting your player:
a receiver that offers:
1. component video ports or bare minimum s-video, so that you can pass through the receiver with your player and various other video components, like playstation, etc.
2. A receiver that has a DTS & Dolby Digital decoder in it.
3. Accepts digital optical inputs or bare minimum coaxial,
though I'd recommend optical.
4. has a low distortion ratio.
I'd say try sony, pioneer, or yamaha.
they all make excellent receivers.
also if you don't have a television that accepts s-video
or component video, get one as soon as you can. If purchasing a television go for one with component video.
Much, much sharper picture.
I have a Pioneer VSX-509s.
