    can anyone tell me if you can or can't edit ac3
    if you can how?
    if you can't then can you convert ac3 some other format to do it

    yes you can get an ac3 filter first, then extract the ac3 stream from your avi, or video file, using GOLDWAVE and then just edit the audio converted into wave using goldwave in an edditing program such as ACID PRO 4.0 or Video Vegas 4.0c or Cool Edit Pro 2.0 or Sound Forge, or the nero editior or whatever programs that you know of

    In other words - you can't edit in AC3 format - it has to be converted to wav first, then reencoded to AC3

  4. Maybe a dumb question but do you actually want to edit or just cut some off the beginning or end?

    Besweet can do this (Partial encoding) as ac3>ac3 if you know to the second where your start and end points are.
