  1. Hi folks, I surfed through the net but could not find any satisfying answer on a question. The LiteOn LVD-2001 is supposed to support both NTSC and PAL discs.
    But does it actually play an NTSC dvd/vcd with colour on a PAL tv? Does this player convert the NTSC signal to PAL 50 or PAL 60? Or does my tv have to support progressive scan for the ntsc->pal conversion to work?

    I read that ntsc->pal 50 conversion gives a rather jerky and choppy picture, ntsc->pal 60 gives the best quality.

    Also I read somewhere on this forum that mp3's has to be put on folders when burned on cdr's to make it work in the player, is this true??

  2. my old player could play ntsc discs fine but the picture came out black & white (not jerky) as my TV was not NTSC compatible.

  3. Oh what a pity, then the information about this issue on the website,
    http://www.kitsapcomputers.com/lvd08.htm ,
    is kind of misleading isn't it?
    Although it's a very good review indeed. It made me wanna run and buy the player right away

    In my opinion a player doesn't really support NTSC discs on PAL TVs if it plays the discs in black & white. But rabiddog, you're pretty sure there isn't any other function on the player to make the ntsc discs play with colour on pal tvs, any other people that knows anything about this?

    Wish I had a tv with ntsc support

  4. The LiteOn can convert NTSC->PAL 50, and yes it will give you a REALLY jerky and choppy picture.
    NTSC->PAL 60 is not possible.

    There's a analog plug available! it converts the NTSC to Pal 60! Even if your tv doesn't support NTSC it'll works! But the tv must support Pal 60, of course...
    Take a look: http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=121&products_id=1686& or www.lik-sang.com

    Edit: There's also something like a color layer... PAL & NTSC have a different "color layer". A analog PAL signal with a PAL color layer is not compatible with a NTSC TV... This stuff change this NTSC layer to a PAL layer...
