  1. I took 2hr 17mn of some VHS footage and pressed it down to 3.5gig adn added some menus and sound in DVDit and came up with a Video TS folder of 4.5gig. Went to burn it with Nero and it says the disc can only hold like 4.3.. what?

Your authoring program may have made lpcm audio or re-encoded files to be within spec.

All is not lost. :c) Use a transcoder like DVDshrink to resize your existing files down to fit DVDr.

    No need to start over.

PS - even though DVDr discs are labeled "4.7", it is actually less, as Nero was advising.
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1

DVDit! has a flaw. It should NEVER have let you author the 4.5 GB project, but it does. DVDit! thinks 4.7GIG DVD-R is a 4.7GB file. It is not a 4.7 GIG DVD-R is really 4.38GB on a computer.

If you have the PE edition, you can make the audio AC3. It is likely PCM causing all that lost space.
