Want to complete the last step in my Audio/Video setup at home,
getting an analog converter to convert my old VHS to
DV for use with Imovie 3, iDVD 3, on my G4 Dual 1 DDR.

I'm turning to the Mac forum, because as I read through this site,
and through the reviews listed with 4videoEquiptment.com,
I still conflicted and don't know: which is better, in terms of stability,
ease of use, compatability with iApps, no loss in audio OVERALL,
the Canopus ADV-100 or the Data Video DAC-100DV?

Price I'm not worried about, more so the things I mention above.

    Thanks to all who respond!!
This forum has taught me a lot!

I tell ya. My eyes are stuck on this one. I'm looking at a Pyro A/V Link.
    It's a analog to dv thing. It's from Adstech.com

It also has a video component(RGB) input too.

    PUSA,
    I'll look into yours.
Are there reviews for it there also?
    I'll check 4videoEquiptment.com as well.
    thanks.

Ok guys - I just purchased the Canopus ADVC-100. Hooked it up with a Sony Hi8 TR940, and am using it on G4-500MHZ-640MB RAM, OSX10.2.3.

Set up was very simple. Picture conversion from 8mm to Digital works well
and I cannot see any loss of picture quality (am not an expert at that).

I had a few questions and they answered my E-mails within a couple of days.

I would purchase this item again.

PS : be aware that there is no time code, and that movies are converted in blocks of 9 minutes.
