Would you pay to watch an Indy Horror movie I made?
Would you pay for a DVD/VHS release of the movie if you liked it?
Would you pay for a DVD/VHS release going only by word of mouth of others?
Would you help to finance a movie?
Would you offer your skills for a movie?
Would you offer free/reduced products for a movie?
Do you like Horror Movies?
I'm just curious.![]()

Do you like Horror Movies?Hello. -
I like horror movies as long as it's a really good storyline. But not just horror for its own sake.
I don't think many would buy it without being able to watch some example clips first - at least.
Or it turned out really good, maybe word-of-mouth would sell it.
But.... you are asking on a site where just about anyone would know how to copy it! :cD Might reduce your sales just a bit.
Maybe there's a better way to release it?
A serialisation maybe?There's no place like 127.0.0.1
The Rogue Pixel: Pixels are like elephants. Every once in a while one of them will go nuts. -

Housepig Records
out now:
Various Artists "Six Doors"
Unicorn "Playing With Light" -
The movie will be geared more toward movies like 28 Days Later and Evil Dead than Nightmare on Elm Street and Child's play.
Any that wants to help with its production is more than welcome, but we won't move into production probably until summer. -

TGPO, I like end of the world movies that are small budget. 28 Days later was an awesome film for the money that was spent.
I have some great ideas about a post appocaliptic thriller.
I may be able to help as well. -

I don't know if I can help with the actual production, that is unless you want to fly me over (first class of course).
If you want me to design/build you an official website though I can help you out in that area. -
See??? Pac knows that's the way to go!

Yeah Tim and Me are seriously thinking about getting the webpage going on it. Maybe also start up some paypayy stuff so that people could donate a buck or two and get their name in the credits if they want.
Pac, you could help with distribution though. Perhaps talk to some theater managers and try to book a showing. -
I might be able to arrange a screening or two at my university but apart from that I couldn't be too sure. The area I live in in very suburban (i.e. the latest crap from J-Lo does well) and the local cinemas aren't very helpful in terms of independant film.
My suggestion would be to try and arrange a few screenings of the film but to mainly concentrate on internet/mail order sales to get sucess. Also see about entering some film contests to get some 'buzz' about the movie happening.
But yeh, if you need a hand building the site or if you want to see about a local screening here give me a shout and I'll be glad to help. -
Another thing I would suggest is sending a DVD of the finished movie to Harry Knowles at Aint It Cool News.
My friend did work experience at a film place that helped in the production of a small indie horror film called Undead. Harry got a copy of the movie and gave it a good review and apparently that helped in getting cinema distribution for it. -
People will buy it just to see how bad it is.
If you are going to do it just remember to film plenty of footage (like tring to get investors, makings of etc) to use on the DVD and also maybe you can con someone into buying it as a documentary. -
Wow. That sounds like my kind of movie. They used home computers to make the SFX. But they had a budget of $5,000,000. We have a budget currently of a box of tic tacs.

Does your state/federal government have like a film funding/grants program?
I know in my state/country that you can apply for grants etc to make a movie and they will provide not only money but also equipment and expertise so maybe you should look into that sort of thing.
Just on a side note, have you seen the site/film http://www.mydatewithdrew.com? Now that is making a film on a budget. -

also check public tv or public access cable - they may have equipment you can rent / borrow, information on grant money, etc. etc.
up here in Minneapolis, the public TV system is set up so you take a class (it costs something like $150) so they know you know how to use & take care of the gear, and once you've become a member, you can check out gear and use editing suites for free or for low cost.
check around - if noting else, it might make you some contacts, or give you some pointers to other resources.
also, if you have a technical school or university with a film department, go hang out there and see what resources they might have.- housepig

Awesome idea....there are not enough good indie horror movies these days. Im a HUGE horror movie buff, and appreciate the recent influx (albeit small) of quality indie flicks. Wish I could help in the production, would love to spread the love so to speak!!! Any type of "spread the word" help you would need I could provide up here in northern USA....I have a lot of horror movie fan friends that would also love to spread the word....Good luck in the endeavor and keep me in mind for for "PR" work....
Ever get that feeling you are being watched?? -
