    Dear guys,

I would appreciate if at least one of you guys could explain me one thing. I got a DVD, that seems to be a 4:3 one, or 800x600. What I donīt understand, is why, in a 800x600 computer screen, this my DVD doesnīt fill it out. It does, only if we maximize its windows, but I think that doing this, We will get a interlaced image. Could anybody explain me this a little bit, please?

    Sinc.,

You've got all your facts jumbled. Read "interlace" in the glosarry. Your monitor is probably set to a high resolution. A DVD is 720x480 at most. Use PowerDVD or other DVD software to view. Put it in full screen mode.

Yes, You are right. But what I donīt understand, Is how can we get a resolution relatively different from the aspect ratio. See:

    720/480 = 1,5

    4/3 = 1,3333333....

I donīt understand this. I think that the results would have to be the same, otherwise we would be suposed to get interlaced images. :c(

You software (SW) app has to be the blame here.

For example, if you play a DVD movie in PowerDVD (PDVD) and your
source is a 16:9 (aka, 1.777 or 1:85 or 2:35) and PDVD is configured
correctly for AR, you'll get a true 16:9 output, weather the sw app is set
to a small window view or FULLSCREEN.

But, if you play it in Windvd (WDVD) this app doesn't have the proper
setup/configs for true 16:9, and therefore, will play it minimally in 16:9
view when viewed in FULLSCREEN (but still minimally or inaccurately)
Also, when you play it in a windowed view, the 16:9 is really showing it
    in 4:3 mode.
    .
    .
The same can be said for Zoomplayer. It will only show 4:3 view in a
windowed view, but when set to full screen, you can (after you set it up
to) 16:9 (if movie is 1.85/2.35) set to 2.35 or 1.777 mode, but again, only
    in full screen mode.

So, in short, the TRUE 16:9 viewing is dependant upon the sw app's capabilities
    for one reason.
