Does anyone know where a newbie like me could find a basic guide or tutorial on how to use this software for backing up DVD movies? I have read so many positive comments about this software I would really like to try it but need a guide to walk me through it. Thanks for your input.

  2. Check the media chance website www.mediachance.com or the help inthe software.

I'm not sure if you just made a mistake or what not, but you don't backup anything with DVD-Lab, you author finished MPEG files so they can be burned to DVD. I'm not cracking on you, just making sure we all know that there is a difference between "backup" and "authoring".

true, but there are a lot of people using it as a re-authoring tool for ripped / shrunk content, and not just as an authoring tool for fresh captures and content.

the ability to input vob files makes this really attractive to some - I've even used it for making compilation discs, because with ChopperXP & DVD Lab, it's a lot easier than demuxing, remuxing, etc.

Please post anything regarding backup movies in the dvd to dvdr forum. It includes reauthoring. I'm moving this one.
