How do you know that they aren't still being used? Perhaps if you collected a signed note from every user of this board that said that they were no longer using a particular post, then maybe you could ask Baldrick to remove it.

Just remember that this is Baldrick's board, and anything that you post becomes HIS property. He may enjoy going through old (both your's and other's) posts.

It would probably defeat the purpose of doing a search. You wouldnt come up with many results.

  4. The old posts are left up so that users can search for the answers they need, before posting a question.

If you erased old posts, it would waste the point of the board, and other users help by having the same questions repeated.

  5. As a forum member you cant, can you imagine the chaos if everyone were able to delete threads on this forum. Only Baldrick and the Moderators can close threads on the forum.

A site I used to go to before I found this allowed you to delete threads you created after you reached a certain rank(veteran, noob, etc.) as long as the thread was inactive for at least 20 minutes.

I wonder why you would actually want to delete any of the "older" posts.
I dont know if others are like this, but for myself, if its off the 1st page its practically as good as deleted!

    oh well.....

Even that is a bad idea. The only thing I would support is if you created the thread, then you could delete it within 10 minutes of its creation as long as no replies have been made yet.

Solarjetman, that isnt how it works. For instance(I actually remember this happening once), if someone didnt read the TOS(rules) for posting and they asked for warez, people would warn the person to delete the thread before a mod caught the topic. I thought it was a stupid idea because the thread had to be inactive for 20 minutes and people would keep posting to "warn" the person to delete the thread and the dude would never had the chance.

Sorry you feel that way, but the first thing you said is that "Well i must not have explained my self properly". So what do you expect, we cant read your mind and can only go by what you write, which was not much to begin with. Next time, try to explain your self a little better from the begining and then you might get better responses.

Well THAT is a good idea. but you did not say that in your original post. You can't blame people for not reading your mind.

And no one is jumping down your neck. They are jsut saying why they don't think deleting posts is a good idea. I'm sorry you think people are being mean. You're plenty welcome here, just like everyone else.

It's constructive humor. What doesnt hurt you, only makes you stronger. One thing you should know about this site, people have an active sense of humor and you should be ready to take most of the things in a comical way.
