  1. Can DVD Workshop turn DivX files to DVD?

If yes... how come that my DVD workshop crashes everytime in the final stage (when I click make DVD or Write to disk). DVD Workshop crashes every time at this point, but only when I try with DivX files.

Anybody an idea? I hope this question isn't too stupid..

    Thx!!

I've never tried to encode or re-encode in DVDWorkshop.

It's main function is to author the DVD and add menus if you want them.

Do you have any video editing progs? I'd suggest using one and then inport those DVD-ready files into Workshop.

If you don't have one yet, check the TOOLS area on this site for freeware/shareware and trial versions to test run and see which you like.

    PS - It's not a stupid question :c)
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1

  3. ya DVD Workshop works with Divx as long as you got the Divx codecs. Also it might be crashing because your file might have some bad frames if it keeps failing at one spot. You can use vdub to check and remove them. If you look in the guides you will find a guide for vdub removing bad frames, hope this helps good luck.

  4. Hopefully, you haven't installed one of the unofficial DivX codec packs.

    According to Microsoft:

"Nimo and Tsunami codec packs are untested compilations of various
codecs and filters commonly used on the Internet."

"Incompatibilities are known to exist with some of the components in
    the packs."

"The incompatibilities can cause serious playback issues in Windows
Media Player and other multimedia programs, lead to system corruption,
and make it difficult for Microsoft Support to diagnose and
    troubleshoot playback issues."

On the other hand, I see Ulead has announced a partnership with the official DivX source... DivX networks:
