I got alot of great movie in AVI format about 700MB each movie but if I try to burn them to a DVD with MovieFactory its bigger then the DVD. So I used TMPGenc to make the 700MB AVI into a 4GB MPG. Burn if I try to inport the fie into MovieFactory my computer locks up. Can someone please help me out my kids are dieing to see the movies I told them I had them!

It would help if you filled in your computer profile and gave a little more information. Some OS's have a 4GB file size limit. AVI's are generally a lot larger than a comparable MPG file. What type of AVI do you have? Are you combining them to get to 4Gb? A 700MB converted to MPG should be quite a bit smaller than 700MB.

    Sorry to disagree but.......

Mpegs are generally a lot bigger than similar quality avi's.

An avi converted to mpeg-DVD can be very large and it only depends on the bitrate and the length of the clip.

In response to the original post...

Assuming your clip is DVD compliant then you should be able to use Moviefactory, here's a guide.

Say what? There's no correspondance between AVI size and MPG size, so that a 700 MB AVI should be much smaller when encoded to mpg, is rubbish.
What matters is the length of the movie, and the bitrate used in the mpeg.
