I am a movie buff, and I have some classic movies that probably will not be released on DVD. These are store bought pre-recorded tapes. Some of them are already out-of-print.
I am thinking of buying a standalone DVD recorder to record from the VCR and watching the DVD instead of the tape.
Will I have problems doing this?
I've been reading about Macrovision, and I am wondering if that will come into play here.

maybe --- but passing though an old vhs machine w/o macrovision (even an old broken one) or a hi8 camera will remove it ...

Both my VCRs are new ( less than 3 years old) ...
I'm not sure how a Hi8 camera would help. What connections would I make there? -
there are also standalone boxs to remove macrovision off tapes ...
hi8 never had macrovision enabled in its design ... i think it was kind of a goof really .."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
If I can borrow a Hi8 camera, how would hook it up to the VCR and the DVD recorder so that I can get rid of the Macrovision?
