Dvr-A03 wont read or write dvds

I am having problems with my dvr-A03, it will read and write cds but will not read dvd , dvd-r,dvd-rw. I am using the newest version on nero. i have updated the firmware and tried both DMA and PIO mode still with no luck. any suggestions? thanks

maybe its toast instead of a software problem ..

I had a similar problem a few months back, and i wound up having
to open the unit, and carefully cleaning it out. I blew it out with a
can of dustoff, and CAREFULLY cleaned the laser lens.

This helped out, and it worked again.

Have you been using 4x media to burn with?

I have tried using 2 different brands of dvd-r media , both 2x. i tried dvd-rw media and also had no luck. i even tried opening up the drive and cleaning the lense but it still will not read dvd-r/rw or regular dvds. it will still read and write cd-r/rw.
