    Does anyone know if there is a hack to make this unit play DVD+R's

    Sorry, I don't know of a hack. I have a Toshiba 3109 and it won't play anything except commercial DVD's. I finally gave up and got a cheap player for SVCD's and DVD-R's. I still use my Toshiba for playing commercial DVD and I still like it.
