I've been reading the guides and following them step by step, but no luck.

I have two movies which I've ripped in full file mode using DVDdecrypter. I wanted to put the movies on one DVDR and include a simple menu to be able to choose which movie to watch.

I'm using TMPEnc DVD Author. I start a new project and add the first movie using Add Video File. It saves it to two mpegs. I do the same with the second movie.

I put each movie in its individual clip so that the main menu allows me to choose which movie to watch. To my surprise, it also made chapter menus for me automatically for each individual movie.

I then created the DVD files. It gave me 3 error messages. One was the resulting file was over the limit for a DVDR. The other two messages said the bitrate of the video and audio was over the limit of 9800 kbps. I hit ignore and created the files.

Now when I used DVDShrink and/or Instant Copy to bring it down to fit on one disc, both programs shut down on me saying invalid files or invalid VOB's.

I tried again, only this time I used Add File in TMPEnc DVD Author and pulled in the 4 mpegs it created - two for each movie. I encountered the same problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

correct me if i'm wrong, when you say you ripped the movies in full file mode, does this mean you selected all the files on both dvd's or just the main movie itself ?? because if you ripped the entire contents of the dvd & not just the main movie alone that might be your problem ?
DVD Decrypter should default to only the main movie files when set to file under the mode option.

I did rip it in full file mode, but when I imported it into DVD Author, DVD Author only pulled in the movie with the corresponding audio part. No extras or anything were included.

TMPEnc DVD Author gave me the options of what to pull in from the full ripped disc.

do it the other way around.
rip movie only and run through your chosen encoder to make 2 gig set
repeat this for second film and then use tsunami works everytime.

Let me see if I follow you Curry:

Rip the movies in movie only mode - dvddecrypter default setting.
Use DVDShrink to encode them to 2 gig each = 4 gigs for both movies.
And then, I'm assuming tsunami is another name for TMPEnc DVD Author, use TMPEnc DVD Author to add menus and author new files.

This was going to be my next step, however I was wanting to lean towards using Instant Copy to resize the files since I feel the quality is slightly better. But, I don't believe Instant Copy will do movie only - or will it?

I still would like to know why I can't use TMPEnc DVD Author to build the files first, prior to resizing them to fit on a DVDR. There is a guide on this site for doing just that, but the creator of that guide doesn't add any menus. I just can't believe that adding a menu would generate the error messages I'm receiving.

don't really know much about instant copy, i've allways used dvd2one(if it ain't bust, don't fix it.)

really couldn't say to be honest, because in theory it should work which ever way you go about this,
but i can assure you it does work this way.

Thank you all very much for your help. I'll probably use DVDShrink to compress both movies at the same time as the new beta version has this capability.

I really need to get me a cool picture to go under my name like Chaos and Curryman.
