Anyone else experiencing problems with PowerDVD 4 and an Optroite DD0203? I have had the drive for a few weeks now and just now realized that the discs I burn have alot of trouble in PowerDVD even while being read in the Optorite drive (my other DVD-Rom drive won't even read the discs, but that seems to be a common problem). Some discs' menus have problems (using the buttons in the pages after the first one seem to freeze the DVD), or give me an error while skipping around using the slider (saying that the disc may be dirty, when in fact it is a freshly burned, immaculate DVD-R.), while some discs won't even start up, citing the same reasons.. Retail DVD's work fine. The discs giving me trouble work fine in WinDVD 4 (That came with the Optorite drive). I was just wondering if anyone noticed this or am I alone with my problem? I'm using firmware 2.17 just in case anyone was wondering.

Does the DVD play ok in your standalone? You might try another brand of media. One other problem did your drive come with firmware 2.17? alot of people reported problems with it,you might want to reflash to 2.16 using the DOS method.

The DVD's play fine in my standalones. No, my drive didn't come with 2.17. I believe it came with 2.09. I flashed it to 2.17 the day it was installed with no problems. You think it could be the firmware? Ugh. How risky is the flashing in DOS? I have Windows XP, not sure if I can use the DOS flash with that...
EDIT: I'm using Fuji DVD-R's which are RITEK G03's... Burning at 2x. I understand that these are pretty good media, so I doubt they should be causing a problem. -
I use powerdvd 4 with no problems and I am using firmware 2.17 since the day it came out. I did have problems/issues after installing this frimware but now all seems to be working fine.
Right now I am using TDK-R and TDK+R for DVD backup and all is working fine no coasters yet.
I bought some cheap -R media at Compusa and they were all coasters when it came to DVD backup.
Everything on my drive appears to be working fine, but I have not tried the HD-Burn but according to Nero my Memorex CDR should work with it.
I plan to try and burn an Xvid this weekend to see how it works.
Question has anybody used HD-Burn and how did it work? -
I am having a similar problem. In my case I'm pretty sure it is a media issue.
I have burned using Philips DVD+R's, Memorex DVD-R's and Ritek 1x DVD-R media. Both the Philips and Memorex media played fine in my Sony DVD-ROM, WinDVD and PowerDVD. The Riteks, however, while playing fine in my standalone and in WinDVD, will not play in my DVD-ROM and I have trouble with functionality (buttons and such) when using PowerDVD.
I am using FW 2.17.
There are so many posts regarding this drive, but it just seems that it comes down to a variety of factors. Personally, I would try some other media. TDK's seem to have a good rep and I have had good luck with the Philips DVD+R media with this drive (check if your standalone will read DVD+R!).
Good luck!!
