Ok I hade a 25 pack or dvd-r's that are ritek g03, anyways iver burned plenty and all of them have played perfectly. Just today I got to the bottom of the spindle and had 3 movies I needed to backup, so I burned them and skiped to the end of the movie and watched the movies. They started to skip and freeze up. Anyone else have this kind of problems? Is there suck a thing were the end of the stack are crappy dvd-r's? Then I went out to Best Buy to pick some dvd-r's since im out. I bought the FujiFilm burned a movie, played perfect. So hopefully it was just some junk media, just checking to see if anyone else had this kind of problem.

that happens sometimes, the bottom 2-5 dvds are under pressure when they are dropped into the spindle, usely they all play fine,. but once in a while, the last few dvds may now work correctly

I always have scratched discs towards the last 1-3 discs in a spindle, especially with 100 packs.
I just throw out the last 3 because a scratch on a blank dvd-r makes the entire disc risky.

Also, I'm not sure if this has much effect, but I've found that the last few discs tend to pick up a lot of dust because every time you pull the cakebox cover off you are creating a vacuum and sucking dusty air up into the stack of discs (especially for 100-packs). That's why I like the screwtop-style cakeboxes because the hole in the top equalizes the pressure from the top (of course, in that case you are sucking dusty air in from the top, but you are going to take off the topmost disc and use it anyway, so there is less cumulative effect).

I bought one of the Fuji 2-25 pack DVD+R's and my problem was the opposite. 3 of the first four or five crap'd out on me. This was on the top spindle. I'm one burn away from the second spindle so we'll have to see what that brings. Just a thought, if the packs were shipped bottom side up then the first ones would be the bottom ones...hmmm. I've been saving them to ship back to Fuji and see if they would replace according to their warranty.....Terence

The first few disks at the top..AND the last few disks at the bottom are BOTH equally as subject to the most damage.

I bought two spindles of white-top (inkjet printable) ritek G04s, and both spindles had that problem. About 5 disks on the top and bottom off the spindle were bad. Some were so bad that I had read errors when I tried to read the burned discs.
In addition, there were visible miscolored "splotches" in the purple dye. Whereas the discs are normally dark purple, these splotches were a lighter purple. The top and bottom discs were the worst, and about half a dozen discs at the top and bottom were affected like that.
Bad batch(es) or damage from pressure?
Interestingly enough I have bought one spindle of the black RiData (also G04s) but they seemed a lot more reliable and no visible defects. -
My last stack (50) of Optodisc are like that. Went 35-40 disc with no problem, then bam! three disc not recognized - one ok, 2 not recognized, etc... Hope I won't have any problem with the next pack.
