  1. I know there has been alot of bagging going around re this subject but I have come across a copy protected dvd-r. I tried to copy it using dvd decrypter and it reaches 99% and has read errors. The dvd plays fine on any dvd player but when it comes to ripping its a different story.

The guy i bought it off is a movie bootlegger and he told me he did something to the TOC or some other stuff. he was too secretive about the whole thing.

Could anyone confirm if this is true and if so since ripping a hollywood dvd is possible shouldn't ripping some morons copy protected copied dvd be easier.

I would say that he was blowing smoke. If he was going to copy protect it, why didn't he put the read errors at 1% instead of 99%?

Does the ripped portion play completely?

Also, you don't have to rip the disk, just copy it to your HD.

Maybe the read errors are from the use of poor quality media.

I bet it's cheap media and it indead does have errors during the credits that no one watches.

  5. I dont reckon he was secretive ... I reckon he didn't know what he was talking about

If he were able to copy protect a disk that couldn't be cracked, he wouldn't be bootlegging DVD's, he would be in the big leaugue, with Willy Gates & co.and would have a Mansion in Bev Hills

He's probably just covering up for using cheapo media ... I bet it's a Princo ...... not a red one is it ?

  6. Yes It is Princo's but the thing is it plays the whole disc fine. Also i was able to rip one of the movies i got from him when the 99% error came up i cancelled it and i was still able to burn it and play it fine but the file size was larger than his one. I am certian he told me he made the TOC larger so no one could copy it.

So don't rip it. Just copy the files to your hard disk.

Regardless of what he said, there's no copy protection.

AND if he made the TOC bigger, (by some esoteric process of which I am unaware) then it for certain will have issues in certain players.
