Cool Edit has great quality at the higher settings but tends to take a longer time.

  3. As an aside you might not have to do this. Most standalones have no problems play x(S)VCDs with 48khz audio. I use to do all of my xSVCD as 48khz audio no problem.

  4. i know that it does take a looong time with cool edit, and vegas for example is much faster. but that doesnt answer my question in whats the best way to get the best quality for AUDIO CDR (not svcd, vcd or other stuff, i was talking about 48khz -> 44,1khz -> Audio CD(R).

i mean that pre- and post filtering in cool edit must do "something" ??

any audio experts can help here ?

    thanks a lot

Because of the anti-alias filtering, I choose SoundForge 6 for all my sampling conversion.

I wouldn't do any pre/post filtering in Cool Edit. I tend to think that would only degrade the original source. The best results will come when encoding 48 to 44.1 at the highest settings.
